At Sirenis Hotels & Resorts, we are committed to guaranteeing a vital aspect of tourism: respect for the environment.
Tourism and the Environment are intertwined. Respect for the environment, sustainable development, optimal use of natural resources, and minimising environmental impacts all go hand in hand with boosting tourism, guest satisfaction and loyalty, while raising awareness among the Group's staff, guests and society alike.
For this reason, in the 2022 season a pilot programme was conducted which was a resounding success and will soon be rolled out in some of our other hotels in Ibiza.
The project entails cutting down vegetable oil waste to zero. In the 2022 season in our Sirenis Hotel Club Siesta in Ibiza, we prevented the disposal of 500 litres of oil thanks to cutting-edge FOC 3F Horeca filters incorporated in the kitchens, allowing us to extend the useful life of these oils.
During the 2023 season and as an extension to the project, the initiative has been rolled out in all the chain’s hotels in Ibiza, with an investment of €20,475.50 in teams, €10,964.30 in soaps, and €4,429.60 in soap packaging with 45,200 units.
For set-up and training, the implementation process took one month, and another month was dedicated to becoming operational.
One of the challenges faced during the project was establishing a work routine in the kitchens, since the teams in charge had to handle the filtering process on a daily basis.
To close the cycle and fulfil our circular economy objective, all the vegetable oil waste generated by the hotel has been used to make bars of soap. In this way, we have not generated any special waste this season at Sirenis Hotel Club Siesta, as it has been transformed into a new product.
Thanks to this process, we have made 3,000 bars of soap that have been given to our guests.
