Marina Elite is a fantastic all-inclusive, four-star hotel located in the town of Mogán in the south of Gran Canaria, one of the island’s most important tourist hubs. It stands on a high point of Balito Beach, which features clear water and a beach made of sand, gravel and rocks, in a privileged spot with marvellous views of the Atlantic Ocean, providing the perfect place to enjoy the sunny climate with light wind. 


The location is ideal, as a mere 5-minute taxi ride from the hotel takes you to the tourist centres of Puerto Rico, which is perfect for fans of water sports, and Arguineguín, with a great variety of leisure and restaurant options. Within 10 minutes’ walking distance is the well-known Anfi del Mar beach with its white sands and crystal-clear waters. 

 

The Marina Elite hotel, which was recently renovated, offers a total of 265 accommodation units for its guests. The apartments with 1 and 2 bedrooms have very ample and versatile spaces, and all of them feature separate bedrooms and a living room including a small kitchen with a fridge, coffee machine, kettle, toaster and microwave. If you’re seeking a more exclusive space for your holidays, we have a total of 18 suites at your disposal, 4 of which offer fantastic ocean views, with an open-plan bedroom and living room area and a large bathroom with a shower.

What are the check-in or check-out times?

The accommodation unit may be occupied from 15:00 on the first day of the contracted period. 


The accommodation unit must be vacated by 11:00 noon on the day on which the period ends. The establishment shall assume the customer’s stay to have been extended by one day if they have not vacated the accommodation by the indicated deadline. 

How much do you charge for Wi-Fi?

Wi-Fi is free in your room and anywhere else in the hotel. Please ask for the password at Reception. 

Is there a pool towel service at the hotel?

Yes. A deposit of 10€ is payable (in cash) for each towel.

 

The deposit will not be refunded in the event of loss, removal or theft of a towel or towel receipt.

Does the hotel offer late check out?

Yes, the hotel offers a late check-out service, depending on availability at the time. We will inform you how to use this service at Reception. 


The service costs €40 up to 16:00 and €10/hour for each additional hour until 18:00 h.

Is smoking allowed in the hotel?

We would remind you that according to Spanish law (28/2005), it is not permited to smoke in the closed areas of the hotels, public areas, dining room, indoor bar, lounges, bedrooms and corridors. Smoking is allowen on the outdoor terrace.

How much does it cost to use the safe?

All of our rooms are fully equipped with a free safe where you should deposit your documents & personal items of value. Please ensure that the safe is completely closed every time you leave you room & on the last day before you leave, please ensure that you do not forget anything in your room & leave the door to the safe open. The hotel does not take responsibility for any money or items of value left outside the safe. This also applies to our policy for valuable items lost, which are inside the safe, if it has not been closed correctly.

 Are tea and coffee facilities provided in the room?

No, there is no tea/coffee service available in the room, but we provide a coffee maker and a kettle for your convenience.

 Is there a minibar in the room?

No, there is not minibar service, but all rooms have a mini fridge, coffee maker, kettle, toaster and microwave.

It is not possible to guarantee an upgrade to a better room category before your arrival at the hotel. 

 

You can only request an upgrade to a room in a higher category on arrival at the hotel and this will be subject to availability. 


Our reception staff will be able to check on the availability and cost of any upgrade on arrival.

What’s the climate like in Gran Canaria ?

The climate of the Canary Islands is subtropical. The warmest month of the year in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is August, with an average maximum temperature of 27 °C and a minimum of 22 °C. The coolest season is from 17 December to 13 April, and the average daily maximum temperature is usually less than 22 °C.

Which clothes should I bring with me?

In summer, it is preferable to wear cool clothes and of course don’t forget your swimming costume! At the beginning and end of the summer season, you will need a light cover up for the evenings, and during the winter you need warmer clothes.

What type of sun cream do you recommend?

With the high temperatures in summer, we would advise you to use sun lotion with an average protection index of 20 to 50, especially for children. It is also recommended to avoid sunbathing between 13:00 and 16:00.

What is the currency ?

In Gran Canaria, as in Europe, the currency is the Euro.

What is the official language?

The official language is Spanish; at the hotel English is also spoken.

Can I exchange currency in the hotel or withdraw money?

The hotel has a currency exchange service at Reception between 08:00 and 22:00h. There are ATM's available in the vicinity of the hotel.

No, there are no supermarkets near the hotel.

Diabetic dishes are available, so we would recommend that you inform the hotel reception of your needs on arrival, or to the restaurant manager.

Although we don’t offer a special vegetarian menu, we do offer a variety of salads and other meals suitable for vegetarians.

We have gluten-free food at the hotel that can be prepared for the main buffet restaurant as long as our customers request this in advance. At our themed restaurants, we provide information about which meals on the menu are gluten-free. 

Is there a dress code for the hotel restaurants?

Please wear appropriate clothing to access the restaurants. It is strictly prohibited to enter barefoot, in swimwear, with wet clothes or topless.

 

At dinner it is recommended to dress more formally.

Does the hotel offer a picnic service instead of lunch or dinner?

On the day of arrival, guests arriving at the hotel after the dining room has closed may request a cold supper. It is necessary advance notice before the arrival day.

The hotel offers a 24 hour all-inclusive service, outside of the buffet restaurant opening times. Snacks, water, soft drinks and beer are on offer 24 hours a day.

Do the hotel's various restaurants offer gluten-free food?

Gluten-free food is available in the hotel's main buffet restaurant, provided that our guests request it in advance. In the themed restaurants, we will inform you which dishes on the menu are gluten-free.

There is a microwave for heating baby food in the restaurant. We recommend you let the restaurant manager know about your requirements.

The Marina Elite is a TUI SUNEO hotel of the tour operator TUI. The entertainment team is in charge of organizing all daytime activities for children, and the mini club. Clients who have booked direct or via tour operators other than TUI will be able to take part in certain activities, subject to availability at the time and only if the children speak and understand English. The mini club activities and service are only for customers who have booked through TUI.

Is it necessary to notify the hotel to reserve a cot? Does it have an additional cost?

If you are travelling with a baby under 2 years old, the cot will be available in your room upon arrival. This service is free.

 

If your baby is over 2 years old and requires a cot, the hotel must be notified, and will provide one for free, depending on availability at the time.

Flexible rate:

 

If you cancel at least 48 hours before your arrival date, the hotel will return any deposit you may have paid. If you cancel after the deadline, the hotel shall charge the amount of the first night, and if the whole booking has been paid, the amount of the first night shall not be refunded.

 

If you do not show up, the hotel shall charge the amount of the first two nights to the card provided as a guarantee, and if the whole booking has been paid, the amount of the first two nights shall not be refunded.

 

If you wish to pay the total cost of your booking on arrival at the hotel, your credit card is only necessary as a guarantee for your reservation. The reservation cost will not be charged to your credit card, as payment is to be made at the hotel on the day of arrival, either by credit card or in cash, in local currency and according to the exchange rate of the day.

 

If you cancel two days before your arrival date, you will be charged for the first night of your booked stay; in the case of a no-show, you will be charged for the first two nights.

 

Sirenis Hotels & Resorts reserves the right to do a pre-authorization for the cost of the first night.

 

If you have chosen to pay the total cost of your booking now, the reservations system will connect to the bank using a secure connection, in order to give the maximum safety guarantee for the payment process and will charge the amount indicated in the voucher.

What should I do if I want to cancel my booking directly?

If you wish to cancel a booking made on our website www.sirenishotels.com, you may do so under the section "My Booking" on the home page. You will need to include the email address used at the time of booking, and the booking confirmation code.

 

If you need further assistance to cancel a booking, please contact request.ibz@sirenishotels.com.

 

In the event of cancellation of a booking with a non-refundable rate, the amount paid will not be refunded.

How can I change my booking?

If you want to change your original booking and this is permitted by your chosen rate, follow these steps: 


1. Firstly, make a new booking at the hotel for the dates you want. Please, bear in mind  that the rates and booking conditions shown on the website are subject to change at any time, which is why the cost of the new booking could be different from the original booking. Please, bear in mind that room availability is limited. 


2. Once you’ve received the confirmation email for the new booking with a booking code and a copy of the receipt, you should cancel the original booking, from the MY BOOKINGS page you’ll find from the home page. 


3. Please make sure that the new booking is made correctly before cancelling the original,  so that your accommodation is guaranteed. The booking is confirmed when a booking  code is created and a confirmation email is received showing the booking code. 

What do I do if I haven’t received an email with the booking confirmation?

If you haven't received the confirmation email for your reservation, please contact us at request.ibz@sirenishotels.com. We will look up your reservation in our system and send you a copy of the voucher.

What is the tourist stay tax

The Canary Islands Government approved a tourist stay tax law in the Canary Islands, Law 2/2016 of March 30, 2016. According to this law, the tax came into effect on July 1, 2016, and will apply to stays in tourist establishments from this date.

 

It is a direct, immediate, and specific tax of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands, with a dedicated purpose, and its proceeds will go entirely to the fund to promote sustainable tourism.

Who is obliged to pay this tax?

All clients staying at the hotel (stays of persons under 16 years of age are exempt).

How is the amount to be paid calculated?

+ -

The taxable base is the number of days of stay. The tax amount will be obtained by applying the following rate to the taxable base: in four-star hotels, €3 + VAT.

 

Discounts: 50% for long stays (from the 9th day of stay).

When should our clients pay the tax?

On arrival at the hotel during the check-in procedure our reception staff will present the corresponding documentation for payment of the tax before entry to the room.
